biography
Miel Castagna-Herrera has been a Roeland Park resident for seven years, and previously served as a member of the Roeland Park Police Policy Committee and the Roeland Park Citizens Academy.
Miel and her husband, Curtis, are the founders and co-owners of Kansas City’s premier Latin coffeehouse, Café Corazon. She currently serves on the board of the Greater Kansas City Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and regularly partners with local organizations such as the Latino Arts Foundation, KC Arts, Hispanic Development Fund, The Whole Person, and Kansas City Indian Center to support small businesses and people of color.
Miel has run her own Flamenco dance studios, has studied and performed all over the world, and speaks three languages. She is always up for a chat over a warm cup of coffee.
Miel was appointed to the vacant Ward 4 Council seat previously occupied by Mayor Michael Poppa, and will complete the term ending in December 2023.
