Roeland Park, KAN. (May 20, 2021) - The City of Roeland Park is excited to announce that the newly renovated Roeland Park Aquatic Center will open on Saturday, May 29 at noon. Due to the metro-wide lifeguard staffing shortages, the Aquatic Center will be open Saturdays, Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon - 7 p.m. The City will open the pool on May 31, Memorial Day.
“The City hopes to be able to open full time as more lifeguards are hired,” said Tony Nichols, Roeland Park Superintendent of Parks and Recreation “We are continuing to recruit and hire as the start of pool season nears.”
The City of Roeland Park previously announced that the Roeland Park Governing Body approved a pay increase for lifeguards to $12 an hour and are offering recruitment and retention bonuses. Lifeguard positions do not require experience and hires will receive their certification free of charge. Applicants can apply on the City’s website here. Please contact Nichols with questions at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Due to the limited operating days, summer pool passes are not currently available. All patrons can buy a day pass, $6 for residents and $8 for non-residents.
