Closure of the Northbound Lane of Roe Lane North of 47th Street

lane closure

The northbound lane of Roe Lane, north of 47th Street has been closed for a significant amount of time due to safety concerns of the roadway due to torrential rains that have caused the northbound lane to destabilize just outside the Roeland Park city limits in Kansas City, Kansas. As this is not in the City of Roeland Park, but does affect Roeland Park residents, the City of Kansas City, Kansas/Wyandotte County has issued the statement below. For questions related to this road closure, please call 913-573-5311.

“Torrential rains in August 2021 caused the creek channel running along the eastern side of Roe Lane in Kansas City, Kansas, to erode and destabilize the street.  Out of concern for safety, the Unified Government’s (UG) Public Works Department issued an emergency closure on the northbound side of Roe Lane between County Line Road and Suntree Place.  The closure will remain active indefinitely.  The southbound lane of Roe Lane remains open to through traffic.

The UG’s Public Works Department continues to monitor the road’s safety and evaluate funding mechanisms for repair.  Motorists are encouraged to follow detour signage, slow down, and drive safely.  For questions related to the closure, please contact the UG’s Public Works Department by calling (913) 573-5311.”
